Product Description

The 3M Versaflo Healthcare PAPR Kit TR-300N+ HKL is a complete, ready-to-use powered air purifying respirator (PAPR) system with a medium-to-large headcover, assembled specifically for healthcare and pharmaceutical workers. The belt-mounted TR-300+ blower draws ambient air through a high efficiency (HE) particulate filter and delivers a steady stream of filtered air into the S-133L headcover, so the wearer breathes easily without the effort of pulling air through a tight-fitting mask. Because the headcover is loose fitting, it accommodates facial hair and glasses without fit testing, and the clear visor lets patients see the provider's entire face.

The slim, contoured blower sits comfortably in the small of the back and is well balanced for long shifts. Two user-selectable airflow settings let each wearer choose the flow they find most comfortable, and the blower automatically increases motor speed as the filter loads so airflow stays consistent throughout the shift. Audible and visual alarms warn of low airflow and low battery charge, and the TR-332 high capacity lithium ion battery runs approximately 8 to 12 hours on a charge, recharging in under 3.5 hours on the included TR-342N charger. The TR-327 Easy Clean belt wipes down quickly between uses.

Note: 3M is not currently including the TR-991 Carrying Bag with this kit. The TR-300+ series is approved for particulate hazards only and does not accept gas or vapor cartridges; for those applications see the 3M Versaflo TR-600 series. For occupational use only. In the U.S., employers must implement a written respiratory protection program meeting OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134.

Instructions

  1. Charge the TR-332 battery fully before first use. Slide the battery into the TR-342N charger cradle, plug the charger into a 100 to 240V AC outlet and wait for the green LED to show a full charge (under 3.5 hours).
  2. Install the battery on the blower. Hold the unit with the filter cover facing you, hook the left edge of the battery into its holder, then press the right side in until the latch clicks. Tug gently to confirm it is locked.
  3. Install the filter. With the unit off, press the cover latch on the right side and lift off the TR-371+ filter cover. Inspect the TR-3712N HE filter and gasket for damage, place the TR-3600 prefilter and HE filter into the cover with the HE filter label facing the view window, hook the left side of the cover onto the blower and press the right side down until it latches.
  4. Thread the TR-327 Easy Clean belt through the retaining slots on the back of the blower and position the unit at the small of the back or wherever it sits comfortably on the waist.
  5. Check airflow. Insert the TR-971 airflow indicator into the blower outlet, turn the unit on and run it for one minute. Holding the indicator vertical, confirm the ball floats at or above the minimum flow mark. Do not use the unit if the ball fails to reach the mark.
  6. Test the low flow alarm. Remove the indicator and seal the outlet tightly with your palm. After about 30 seconds the alarm should sound and the red fan LED should flash; both should stop when you remove your hand.
  7. Connect the BT-30 breathing tube. Insert the bayonet end into the blower outlet and twist a quarter turn clockwise to lock. Connect the other end to the S-133L headcover using the Quick Release Swivel and adjust the tube length as needed. Slip the BT-922 cover over the tube if desired.
  8. Turn the blower on with the power button (the unit runs a brief self-test with LEDs flashing and a short alarm), don the S-133L headcover, adjust the integrated head suspension for a snug fit and enter the work area.
  9. Leave the contaminated area immediately if the low airflow or low battery alarm activates, if airflow decreases or if breathing becomes difficult. To power off, press and hold the power button for 2 seconds.
  10. After each use, wipe down the blower and battery with a soft cloth dampened with mild pH neutral detergent (do not immerse), clean or replace the breathing tube cover, dispose of the headcover per facility policy and recharge the battery.

QUESTION: What other things need to be purchased along with the TR 300NHKL? Such as hood, etc.? What part numbers?
ANSWER: Nothing else is required to get started. The TR-300N+ HKL is 3M's complete, ready-to-use kit, and the hood is already included. It ships with the S-133L Headcover (medium/large), BT-30 Length Adjusting Breathing Tube, BT-922 Breathing Tube Cover, TR-301N+ PAPR Unit, TR-371+ Filter Cover, TR-3712N HE Filter, TR-3600 Prefilter, TR-327 Easy Clean Belt, TR-332 High Capacity Battery, TR-342N Single Station Battery Charger Kit and TR-971 Airflow Indicator. The only item 3M no longer includes is the TR-991 carrying bag, which can be purchased separately.

What most customers add over time are the consumables: replacement headcovers (S-133L-5, 5 per case, or S-133S-5 for small/medium), replacement HE filters (TR-3712N-5 or TR-3712N-40), TR-3600 prefilters and BT-922 breathing tube covers. Facilities running back-to-back shifts often add a spare TR-332 battery, and the TR-342-3 3-station charger add-on can be paired with the included TR-342N charger. Optional extras include the TR-381 disposable PAPR cover and BT-957 breathing tube storage plugs. If you prefer a different hood style, the S-403 Economy Hood and S-433 Integrated Suspension Hood connect to the same BT-30 breathing tube.

hot melt rubber (synthetic)
Offers the widest range of application flexibility available. Exhibits excellent processing performance whether manually or automatically applied. Has superior tensile strength, adhesion properties and holding force which ensures consistent, reliable seals. Hot melt adhesive will bond faster to a surface which is referred to as quick-grab or quick-stick. It typically has higher tack (will feel stickier to the touch), but is also softer. It has lower heat resistance, shear resistance, and sometimes UV resistance than an acrylic adhesive. NOTE: it is called hot melt because the adhesive is applied hot by the manufacturer and then hardens as it cools (you do not need to apply heat to the tape yourself).
natural rubber
Properties are similar to that of hot melt rubber, but natural rubber often holds where other adhesives won't (recycled fibers, dust, cold, heat and heavy loads). It provides good overall adhesion and moisture resistance.
acrylic
Offer excellent performance, especially for applications in temperatures less than 40°F and greater then 120°F. It provides excellent clarity, has high shear strength, is usually more permanent/durable even when exposed to moisture, and it ages well over extended periods in fluorescent and sunlight. Since it remains clear for the life of the application and does not yellow over time it is ideal for applications such as sealing white cartons. While it has good initial adhesion it does take 24-48 hours to cure and to achieve its maximum bond strength (has gradual adhesion buildup). Another difference between hot melt rubber and acrylic adhesive is if you fold tape over making the two adhesive sides touch the acrylic adhesive will remain attached to the carrier (e.g. paper, film) while a hot melt adhesive will stick to itself and pull off of the carrier. It is the best choice for clarity, UV resistance and aging characteristics.
silicone
Is great for extreme temperature applications since silicone adhesive can work in continuous operating temperatures from -100°F to 500°F. They also exhibit good chemical resistance, retain electrical properties, and remove cleanly with little or no residue.
zinc oxide
Zinc oxide based adhesive formula is a skin-friendly adhesive which is commonly used on sports medicine tapes.
Thickness, AKA caliper or gauge, refers to the distance from one surface of a tape backing, or adhesive, to the other.

The cut level indicates how many grams of cutting load a glove can withstand from a sharp blade before being penetrated.
Lower gauge gloves are heavier - have thicker construction, fewer stiches knitted per inch and offer less dexterity.
Higher gauge gloves are lighter - have thinner/finer construction, more stitches knitted per inch and offer more dexterity.
Gloves offered typically runs from 7 to 18 (12 and 13 are in the middle of the scale).
