Product Description
FindTape MGMP Matched Pole Magnetic Tape is a flexible 1/16 inch thick magnetic strip with a permanent, high-tack rubber-based adhesive on one side and a multipole magnetic face on the other. It is sold as matched A-side and B-side tapes: put A-side on one item and B-side on the other, and the two faces line up and hold to each other more strongly than a magnet holds to plain steel. If you can apply tape to the surface, you can easily create a magnetic area for graphics, signage, displays and more.
Each tape is a single-faced magnet with either A or B polarity. The A side has a south center pole and the B side has a north center pole, so the poles align when the two are paired. Matched A-to-B gives the strongest hold. The tape also attracts ferromagnetic materials such as iron, nickel and cobalt, and two pieces of the same side will still stick together, just with weaker attraction. The adhesive is made for smooth, higher surface energy materials such as metal, glass and many plastics, and it does not bond well to fabric or other textiles. Apply at 50°F or warmer.
These permanent magnets stay magnetized indefinitely unless exposed to a demagnetizing force. For this reason, FindTape Magnetic Tape is not returnable.
Features & Benefits
- Matched A-side and B-side tapes for a strong magnet-to-magnet hold
- Multipole magnetic face, 1/16 inch thick
- Permanent, high-tack rubber-based adhesive
- Also attracts steel and other ferromagnetic metals
- Flexible strip cuts easily with scissors
- Silicone-coated paper liner peels away cleanly
Uses & Applications
- Interchangeable graphics and signs
- Menu boards and nameplates
- Displays, pictures and calendars
- Trade show booths and presentation boards
- Removable panels, covers and access doors
- Crafts and packet attachment
NOTE: If your magnetic tape curls when you try to apply it, this is from being wound in a roll and has no effect on the magnetic properties or quality of the tape. Unwind and cut your piece from the roll, place it under a weight, such as a book or stack of papers, for a short time to flatten it, then apply to your surface as normal. Country of Origin: United States.
Instructions
- Clean both surfaces so they are dry and free of dust, oil and grease.
- Apply at 50°F or warmer.
- Cut the A-side and B-side tapes to matching lengths with scissors.
- If a strip curls from being wound on the roll, place it under a weight, such as a book, for a short time to flatten it.
- Peel the liner and press the A-side strip onto the first item, then the B-side strip onto the mating item, rubbing each firmly along its length.
- Check the fit by bringing the two faces together; matched A-to-B gives the strongest hold.
- Keep the tape away from strong magnetic fields that can demagnetize it.

QUESTION: Will the adhesive stick to the fabric of a car visor?
ANSWER: Unfortunately, that adhesive isn't designed to adhere to textile substrates like that. It is really for higher surface energy substrates such as metal and glass.

QUESTION: Just to be clear, if I get a roll each of A side and B side. These 2 will stick together and have a strong hold, or will they repel?
ANSWER: Yes, that is correct. For the best attraction, you will want an A-side going against a B-side; however, the tapes would not repel (just the attraction would be less if using the same A or B side). Thank you.

QUESTION: What is the pole orientation in your matched-pole magnetic tape? Is it an even number of stripes, one large pole, or some other configuration?
ANSWER: Material is produced with the A and B magnets with a multipole configuration so that the product will have sufficient strength. The A side has a center pole that is south and the B side has a center pole that is north. This ensures magnet to magnet alignment when you place an A and B magnet together. If you produce the product with one pole on each side the magnets will not hold to each other. I hope this helps.

hot melt rubber (synthetic)
Offers the widest range of application flexibility available. Exhibits excellent processing performance whether manually or automatically applied. Has superior tensile strength, adhesion properties and holding force which ensures consistent, reliable seals. Hot melt adhesive will bond faster to a surface which is referred to as quick-grab or quick-stick. It typically has higher tack (will feel stickier to the touch), but is also softer. It has lower heat resistance, shear resistance, and sometimes UV resistance than an acrylic adhesive. NOTE: it is called hot melt because the adhesive is applied hot by the manufacturer and then hardens as it cools (you do not need to apply heat to the tape yourself).
natural rubber
Properties are similar to that of hot melt rubber, but natural rubber often holds where other adhesives won't (recycled fibers, dust, cold, heat and heavy loads). It provides good overall adhesion and moisture resistance.
acrylic
Offer excellent performance, especially for applications in temperatures less than 40°F and greater then 120°F. It provides excellent clarity, has high shear strength, is usually more permanent/durable even when exposed to moisture, and it ages well over extended periods in fluorescent and sunlight. Since it remains clear for the life of the application and does not yellow over time it is ideal for applications such as sealing white cartons. While it has good initial adhesion it does take 24-48 hours to cure and to achieve its maximum bond strength (has gradual adhesion buildup). Another difference between hot melt rubber and acrylic adhesive is if you fold tape over making the two adhesive sides touch the acrylic adhesive will remain attached to the carrier (e.g. paper, film) while a hot melt adhesive will stick to itself and pull off of the carrier. It is the best choice for clarity, UV resistance and aging characteristics.
silicone
Is great for extreme temperature applications since silicone adhesive can work in continuous operating temperatures from -100°F to 500°F. They also exhibit good chemical resistance, retain electrical properties, and remove cleanly with little or no residue.
zinc oxide
Zinc oxide based adhesive formula is a skin-friendly adhesive which is commonly used on sports medicine tapes.
Thickness, AKA caliper or gauge, refers to the distance from one surface of a tape backing, or adhesive, to the other.
1 mil = 1/1000 of an inch
Examples: 1/16 inch = 62.5 mils; 1/32 inch = 31.25 mils
Lower gauge gloves are heavier - have thicker construction, fewer stiches knitted per inch and offer less dexterity.
Higher gauge gloves are lighter - have thinner/finer construction, more stitches knitted per inch and offer more dexterity.
Gloves offered typically runs from 7 to 18 (12 and 13 are in the middle of the scale).
